Join us for the second race of its kind on historic King Street! The race takes place on Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 at 5pm. The run starts at Alexandria City Hall at 301 King Street and finishes just west of the King Street Metro Station. It is a chip timed event. The course is a point-to-point, flat and fast course.

Registration

$20 through December 29; $25 December 30-31.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup and late registration will be Tuesday, Decemberr 30 from 4pm-8pm and Wednesday, December 31 from 10am-4:30pm at Pacers Running Store in Alexandria.  No packet pickup at start line; you must pick up your packet at Pacers.  Pacers is located approximately 2/3 of a mile from the start line.  There is no race day transportation from Pacers to the start line.

Requirements (note 9 minute change)

This race is limited to the first 600 runners. You must be able to run the mile in under 9 minutes.  Absolutely no strollers, headphones, pets, or skates.  Rules will be enforced.  This run will be at dusk and will utilize street and storefront lighting.  Reflective gear encouraged.

Runner Support

Bag drop and indoor restrooms available.  Please note that any items left at bag drop will be transported to the finish after all runners have completed the mile.  If you prefer to have your items immediately after the event we suggest leaving with non-running family or friends.

Awards

Cash prizes to top three male/female runners ($150/$75/$50). Merchandise awards to top male/female in each of the following categories: U-14; high school (14-18; three deep), 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59. 60+

High Schools

Area high schools are encouraged to participate in the high school challenge. Awards to top three high school finishers (boy/girl), top boys team (top three score), top girls team (top three score), and top combined team (top two boys/top two girls).

Spectators

Spectators! Watch runners all along the course and at Pacers Running Stores (1301 King Street; corner of King & Payne). Pacers is located at approximately the 2/3 mark of the course.
